Privacy Policy

Account information. Your email address, and optionally your name, phone number, and mailing address, so you can manage your pets and be reached during a recovery.

Pet information. The details you choose to add about each pet, and the contact methods you choose to show to finders.

Scan activity. When a tag is scanned we record the time, the tag involved, and a general device category. We do not record the finder's identity.

Shared locations. If a finder chooses to share where a pet was seen, we store those coordinates and show them only to that pet's owner. Sharing a location is always optional for the finder.

A finder sees only what you have explicitly turned on for that pet. Your address, phone number, and email are hidden unless you enable them for that specific pet. Nothing about your account is shown to a finder by default.

SMS alerts. If you choose to receive text-message alerts, we store the mobile number you provide and the date and time you gave consent. We use this number solely to notify you when one of your pet tags is scanned or when a finder shares a location. We do not use it for marketing, and mobile opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop alerts at any time by replying STOP or by turning them off in your account.

We send email notifications about activity on your own tags, plus account emails such as sign-in links. These are operational messages, not marketing.

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that operate Wayback ID on our behalf — hosting, database, email delivery, and text-message delivery — and only to the extent needed to run the service. We may disclose information if required by law.

Account and pet information is kept while your account is active. Shared locations are retained for up to 180 days and then removed. You can delete a pet, a shared location, or your contact details at any time from your account.

Information is encrypted in transit, access is restricted to your own account, and tag activation uses a secret that is never printed on the tag and never stored in a recoverable form.

You can edit or remove your profile details, turn individual disclosures off for any pet, unsubscribe from text alerts by replying STOP or unchecking the consent box in your account, and request deletion of your account by contacting us.

Wayback ID is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
